Jonathan Shaw's NARCISA is now available
Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

We are proud to announce that Jonathan Shaw's Narcisa is released today and is Heartworm #21. Narcisa is a 360 page beautifully designed memoir and Shaw's first leap into the world of shock literature.

This book was released in an edition of 1,000 copies. Please visit our
STORE to order a copy.

According to Johnny Depp, "If Hubert Selby Jr., Charles Bukowski, Ernest Hemingway, Jack Kerouac, William Burroughs, Neil Cassady, Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, the Marquis de Sade, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joao Gilberto, Edward Teach, Charley Parker, Iggy Pop, Louis-Ferdinand Celine, R. Crumb, Robert Williams, Joe Coleman, Dashiell Hammett, E.M. Cioran and all of the Three Stooges had all been involved in some greasy, shameful, evil whorehouse orgy, Jonathan Shaw would surely be its diabolical, reprobate spawn." With a fan base that includes Lydia Lunch (who provides an introduction), Depp, Jim Jarmusch and Iggy Pop, it is already a much-anticipated debut.

We also released two photo/collage zines by Dan Murphy- Stuck On The Map and William Boone- Suicidal Tenants (Heartworm #17 and 19) and there are a few copies of each left.

Two projects nearing completion that we will update you with soon:

WOUND by Mark McCoy
and
Rose Pillar by Prurient, an 11" record housed in a hardcover book.

Still available in dwindling numbers are Eric Paul's I Offered Myself as the Sea and Max G. Morton's Indestructible Wolves of the Apocalypse Junkyard. Wolves are almost gone. UPDATE: WOLVES IS NOW SOLD OUT.

Max G. Morton's Indestructible Wolves is currently involved in a show called "Volume Attempts: The Space of Books" at the
Temple Gallery , 259 N. 3rd St. in Philadelphia, charmingly placed next to Keith Moon's biography. Wolves will live there until Oct. 25.

Narcisa:Our Lady of Ashes, by Jonathan Shaw
Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

On July 1, 2008, Heartworm Press is proud to release Narcisa: Our Lady Of Ashes, by the celebrated and mythical Jonathan Shaw.

Jonathan Shaw is a world traveling outlaw artist, novelist, blogger, head doctor, anti-folk hero, whorehouse philosopher, legendary tattoo master and notorious innovator and creator of underground art– the bastard product of a brief, surreal, violent and unhappy alcoholic marriage between big band legend Artie Shaw and movie star Doris Dowling, the Vietnam War and massive preteen LSD consumption. After running with the likes of Jim Morrison, the Manson Family and Charles Bukowski, he fell prey to heroin addiction and a life of crime. He finally left 1970’s Hollywood to travel the world by thumb and tramp freighter and is still out there somewhere.

Narcisa: Our Lady of Ashes is Shaw's first leap into the world of shock literature. Based on a true story and set in the hot urban sprawl of Rio de Janeiro, Shaw's tale follows the twisted love affair between a middle-aged gypsy and the beautifully manipulative and insane young prostitute, Narcisa, with hilarious, poignant and often tragic detail. Recounted in three years of diary entries, Shaw's character navigates the teeming slums and lice-infested flop houses of Rio and stumbles along a secret passage to enlightenment at the hands of a gyrating Buddhist Dakini. Through this darkly hilarious litany of doomed love, drug addiction, compulsive sex and mutual enslavement, Shaw proves that it is possible to follow your heart and never once be degraded by self pity.

We urge you to discover and familiarize yourself with the life and times of Jonathan Shaw and Narcisa.
SCABVENDOR is Shaw's website and memorial to the past, present and future times, with an often updated Blog accounting the characters soon to evoke massive love's and hate's within you.
Please also see and add the Narcisa Myspace page
and you can view the Author himself here.

Narcisa, a 300 plus page paperback novel, will be distributed and available from Heartworm Press and from D.A.P.

The first edition is limited to 1,000 copies and pre-orders will begin within the next two weeks.

Also nearing completion/available soon;

Stuck On The Map by Dan Murphy

Wound by Mark McCoy

Rose Pillar by Prurient
